Though they were likely softened by the fact that Rushing had passed away not long after the album was released in retrospectively it's it's fair to call this a little vocal jazz masterpiece/5(19).

  4. Please don't be misled by the previous reviewer. This is a great recording, Jimmy's last, and maybe his best, in post-Basie terms. Rushing was a larger than life vocalist who was somewhat more comfortable in the Blues venue, rather than with pop jazz vocals. His Brubeck album just doesn't sound like a good fit. He is out of his element there/5(7).
